Our Story

In my small town in Mexico, my grandfather would rise with the sun, prepare his donkey, and go in search of the perfect stones to give life to each molcajete. Under the shade of his outdoor workshop, with music playing in the background, he worked with patience and skill, carving each piece by hand. For him, it wasn't just a trade, but a tradition, a legacy passed down from generation to generation.

Over time, my father emigrated to California, while my grandfather remained in his hometown, faithful to his art. Life took us down different paths, but the memories of those days never faded: the rhythmic sound of the stone, the aroma of freshly ground salsas, the essence of a kitchen where every preparation had a soul.

Years later, I returned with my children to my grandfather's town. In front of where his old house once stood, we watched the artisans continue his same craft, shaping the stone with the same dedication and love. Seeing the fascination in my children's eyes, I understood that this tradition had to live on. Thus, Casa de Molcajetes was born, a family and heartfelt project. My husband and I decided to support the talented artisans of my grandfather's hometown, bringing their work to homes where tradition and authentic flavor still matter. Each molcajete tells a story, ours and that of past generations, uniting yesterday with today.

More than a business, it is our tribute to our family's heritage, a way to honor the past and share with the world the beauty of this ancestral art. Because in the kitchen, as in life, everything is better when it is done with love, family, and tradition.

Our Mission Statement

Our goal is to preserve and share the ancestral tradition of the molcajete by supporting local artisans and bringing a piece of history, culture, and authentic flavor to each home. More than just a kitchen tool, each molcajete serves as a connection to our roots handmade with love and steeped in tradition.
